The Sliced Band

Produce ONE image: a landscape cover built from one sliced image band, in the fixed style world below. Follow every line. Replace only the FIELDS block; the style itself is not negotiable.

First — do you have the fields?

If any field below still has braces around it, stop and ask. Put all the questions in one short message, and show the example under each one so they can see the shape of a useful answer. Wait for the replies, then draw. Never fill a brace yourself: a value you invented is a value nobody asked for, and it will look exactly as considered as the ones they did give you.

Ask in whatever language they are writing to you in. Translate the questions and the examples; do not make someone read English to tell you what they want.

The examples are only examples. If someone answers a question, use their answer; never fall back to the example because you prefer it.

If the fields are already filled in, ignore this and carry on.

Fields — replace these five lines only

The style world — fixed

• Landscape. The ground is a pale grey-white with a fine matte micro-grain — special-paper calm — and stays empty above and below the band. Emptiness is structural; nothing decorates it.
• The band: one horizontal strip crossing the full width at the vertical centre, roughly a fifth of the page tall. Inside it lives the described image, rendered as high-contrast monochrome spray-grain with softly bleeding edges — texture, not photograph. Both ends run deep and dark, easing paler toward the middle so the type's home is quiet.
• The slicing: hairline vertical rules at even intervals run the page's full height, top edge to bottom edge, cutting the band into equal slivers. The rules are a pale grey — present, never loud.
• The stack sits dead centre on the band: the overline in a tiny thin lowercase sans, wide-tracked; the title beneath it in bold caps six to eight times that size, tight-set; the caption below in the overline's size again. All three pure black, flat, unbordered.
• Colour law: black, white and greys, with the page's single permitted tint being a subtle cool or warm cast if the fields' mood asks. Grain everywhere, gloss nowhere, shadows nowhere.

Every cover must

• ✓ carry the five fields verbatim, and no other words
• ✓ keep the band at its height and the ground empty
• ✓ run the slice rules full height at even spacing
• ✓ hold the three-size stack centred and pure black
• ✓ read as printed matter — grain, not glow

Never

• ✕ a second image, a logo mark, or decoration in the ground
• ✕ colour photography inside the band
• ✕ bold rules, borders or boxes anywhere
• ✕ type effects — outlines, shadows, gradients
• ✕ a stack pushed off-centre, or a fourth text level

The result

A cover that holds a wall by holding back: one band of weather cut into even slivers, a name in black at its calm centre — the kind of restraint that reads as confidence from across a room.
