We made two examples: one for Vibary, and one for SLOW PRESS, a letterpress shop. The beam still crosses the grain, but the deep colour shifts from ink to blue and the light from white to paper cream.
The copper band sweeps from lower left to upper right with soft edges and faint streaks, the film grain covers the whole frame, and the four pieces of type keep their asymmetric balance. The grain, the three-colour limit and the sharp type against soft light always hold. Now and then the band spreads so wide it reads as a wash of light; if that happens, generate again.

Before it runs
- A title short enough to set enormous. It is the largest thing on the page and everything else is measured against it.
- Four separate pieces of text. Leaving one out collapses the asymmetric balance the layout is built on.
- A dark ground you actually want. Charcoal, ink navy, near-black — the band's colour is chosen against it, not independently.
When to reach for it
